Killarney Mall, in association with the Killarney Riviera Health Shop, are now bringing Dr Leslie Pleass to you! He has been practicing Osteopathic Medicine for nearly 30 years. As a specialist in functional illness such as fatigue, depression and poor immune functioning, Dr Pleass has a special interest in people who are aspiring to more meaning in their lives. He writes, lectures, and speaks locally and internationally in a drive to bring more common sense to seeking audiences.
A growing problem today is a lack of energy, enthusiasm and motivation to fully engage in life’s adventures, trails and joys. We need to be excited, enthused and energetic about life in order to get maximum benefit from the opportunities that life presents.
While depression today is perceived as a global epidemic, lack of enthusiasm and energy is equally prevalent and debilitating and is intimately connected with the functioning of the adrenal glands and its associated hormones.
Short-term stress can be good for the body and is a motivator to action. However, long-term stress leads to increased release of the stress hormone, Cortisol. Cortisol alters utilization of fats and sugars in the body - this may lead to higher cholesterol levels and Insulin Resistance. Abnormal metabolic processes in the body may be responsible for lack of energy and enthusiasm.
Therapeutic modalities and nutritional supplementation can help us cope with daily challenges. Vitamin B complex is active in providing the body with energy. They are vital in the metabolism of fats and protein. In addition, the B vitamins are necessary for normal functioning of the nervous system.
The most valuable herb to combat adrenal fatigue is Rhodiola Rosea. It is all adaptogen – which means it counteracts adverse physical, chemical and biological stresses. It enhances work performance, stimulates the nervous system, decreases depression and eliminates fatigue.
Foodstate supplements are a unique new generation of vitamins and minerals unlike any other supplements available today. They are the only vitamins and minerals concentrated into food complexes and molecularly bounded to protein carriers.
In nature, micro-nutrients are not isolated, rather they occur as part of food complexes which are readily absorbed and utilized by the body. Isolated vitamins and minerals are not only poorly absorbed by the body, but they can be deposited in the wrong areas of the body with adverse consequences. Calcium, for example, belongs in your bones, not in your arteries. Foodstate supplements on the other hand are designed to be directed to the appropriate cells and organs via address encoded protein ‘chaperones’ – ending up at the right place for the right time.
Less is more – only conservative amounts of Foodstate supplements need to be taken, since they are readily absorbed (like food) and remain in the body considerably longer than conventional isolated vitamins and minerals.
