Use your head to make a difference!
7th March 2009
Get down to Killarney Mall to shave or spray your hair on Saturday, 7 March the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) Shavathon returns to Killarney Mall in the Woolworths Court from 9am to 4pm.
Need a new hairstyle or change of colour? Take part in the sixth national CANSA Shavathon by shaving your head or spraying your hair a multitude of fun colours for a simple donation of R50. You can also collect pledges from your colleagues, family and friends to help raise funds for CANSA’s prevention programmes and patient care services in our country.
"Shave or spray in solidarity with a cancer survivor" is the theme of this year’s CANSA Shavathon because hair loss is a common side-effect of cancer treatment, says Sue Janse van Rensburg, National Executive Director of CANSA, who is a cancer survivor.
"Many South Africans who take part in the CANSA Shavathon shave or spray their hair on behalf of a loved one who is living with cancer or who has lost the battle with the disease."
Over R1,24 million was raised around South Africa in 2008 with Killarney Mall shining with a total of R10 000 raised at the centre… and this year we are hoping to raise even more. So, let’s raise the bar this year!
Experiment with temporary hair spay colours with pink, blue, green, purple, silver and gold – choose one or get creative with a combination of colours. Some people even shave and then spray to double their support!
Come along and join us in making a positive contribution to this most worthy cause.
